Palm trees, tide coming in

And of course none of the visions one immediately perceives from the subject line of this post are in this post.

Ah, no, friendly readers: that's still the white stuff you're looking at. And I don't mean Bermuda sand. Pretty though, isn't it, all patterned and all.

I'm about to tell Mother Nature what to do with all that prettiness.

Maybe I should go back to hibernating instead. It's not as healthy for my mental health but it is much more pleasant in case anybody is really reading this.

The photo that might have been

This would have been a lovely picture of a male Cardinal alighting - you know, had the lens been able to figure out it should focus on the bird rather than the snow on the screen and window through which this was shot.

The weather channel got it right, as you can see.

I guess some *cough*Alberta*office* would toss snowballs in my direction but it IS pretty out there today.

Why she would throw things at me, of course, may be due to the fact it is still minus 27 where she lives, works and plays. I'm guessing the fact that Alberta has been in a deep deep-freeze for daaaaays can make a person a tad cranky. I can say without hesitation that the lack of sunlight is doing a fair job on yours truly also.

But ... there are still the birds to watch, the dogs to play with as they lose their minds in snow drifts, playing hard enough that even the coldest of the cold crack a smile.

Good grief. I must be aging. Isn't finding an up side to all things a sign of getting older? Shut up. I did not say "old".

Now where did I leave the zimmer ....

Me, too

.... which is to say it's all she could do to hoist herself on to the couch and I swear to ethereal beings that she tucked this paw this way and that, that way to get this comfortable. I watched it happen.

During the past two days I have done my best to emulate her due to a lack of interest in the outside world.

Hence....say it with me now ... got nothin' to blog about.

BUT she's a cool pup. And she sometimes lets me win the staring contests from couch-to-couch as we while away the day.

It's Saturday

I mention the day of the week because that's really all I know for sure at the moment. Well, "for sure" ... that's a little too definite as I had to look to the clock on my right to confirm even that. The Alberta office is correct that lack of sleep confuses a person.

If you would all look out the window to your left you will see a lone leaf, lying forlorn in the snow. What you can't see but what I know is there is a black Lab paw behind said leaf. Now, doesn't knowing that add so much? As to the "forlorn" comment, I don't see a smile. Do you see a smile? Er, you don't, do you?

It's a dark, dreary day which means I could sit here and whinge and carry on for quite some time about the lack of sun, what it does to one's mood and so on but I'm guessing those who come here to read can find their own negativity and don't need mine.

So maybe fresh Earl Grey is in order then.

Clearly my mind is slowing down. So much could be made from that last sentence and instead I really am going to go make tea. We shall never know if Earl Grey is fresh or not, the devil.

Oh and a side note: with Christmas gone we no longer have to watch the commercial by that big company which appears all home-like, comfy and toasty-warm asking "what did you wish for; what do you want; what did you get". Then it points out "it's in the giving .... Give."
That was one piece of masterful subliminal guilt-imparting tripe. Erm, but I could be wrong of course as this is a pointless observation anyway.

Boy does this sound like a post made in the winter from a sun-deprived person. I'm accepting all airline tickets to brighter, warmer destinations, should anyone care to help out.
